Hello, and welcome to the Children's Ministry at CDOBC! I hope your visit with us furthers your walk with our Savior and brings joy to your spirit. My name is Ashley LeFiles and I have been the Children's Sunday School Director since May 2006.
My husband Jeff and I, along with our 3 children, started attending CDOBC in May 2004. At that time, we were looking for a church home where we could rest in the grace of the Lord and His salvation. We found that rest here.
We believe that children are our younger brothers and sisters in Christ. They are part of the Church today, and the hope of the Church tomorrow.
CDOBC offers Sunday School for all children during both the 9:00 and 10:30 services. Please choose a service time below to see the available options. We also offer AWANA on Wednesday nights.

9:00 SUNDAY SCHOOL
LITTLE LAMBS Age 3 through Pre-K
This class offers Bible stories that help acquaint the children with well-loved Bible characters. The children are introduced to timeless Sunday School songs. Supervised free play teaches the children to interact with others in a way that will "make Jesus happy." The goal for the Little Lambs is to introduce the children to structured Sunday School.
G.L.O.W. (God Loves Our Worship) Kindergarten through 5th grade
Our goal in G.L.O.W. is to teach kids that God loves them and can be real in their lives today, and also that church can be exciting and fun! They have the chance to see how God can use them now to minister to others through song, drama, and in their daily life.
The morning format includes games, songs, pledges, prayer, and a Bible lesson or a lesson on heroes of the faith, such as ministries. The children who are in kindergarten and 1st grade have a separate lesson time. Both the K-1st, and 2nd-3rd grades use an age-appropriate level of the Hands On Bible Curriculum. We use books, experiments, drama, and real life applications in the lessons. The kids learn both hymns and contemporary songs that support the lesson for the day. Games are also used to reinforce the day's theme.
The children perform one of their songs in the morning church service every few months. They stay with the adults for the service on those days. They also attend the Christmas and Easter cantatas. Each fall we prepare a Christmas drama to be performed at the Dessert and Carol Sing--a church-wide time of fellowship--in December.
Come and see what God is doing with our children in G.L.O.W.!

10:30 SUNDAY SCHOOL
LITTLE LAMBS Age 3 through Pre-K

This class offers Bible stories that help acquaint the children with well-loved Bible characters. The children are introduced to timeless Sunday School songs. Supervised free play teaches the children to interact with others in a way that will "make Jesus happy." The goal for the Little Lambs is to introduce the children to structured Sunday School.
SUNBEAMS Kindergarten and 1st Grade
This class builds on the foundation laid during the preschool years. Our teachers engage the children during story time to make Bible truths applicable to their young lives. There is a time of active singing, a Bible lesson, and a craft to help cement the truths that were taught.
SOARING EAGLES 2nd and 3rd Grades
This class is a little more structured than the Little Lambs and Sunbeams. There is an active singing time, and a more direct teaching approach is taken, with the children being encouraged to participate by helping to read the Bible passage and by actively answering questions. This class also offers a hands-on activity to help the children remember what they have learned.
SHINING KNIGHTS 4th and 5th Grades
By the time children reach this class, we believe they should be ready for a much more structured lesson. The children are greatly encouraged to participate in the lesson. They are given a study sheet to take home each week to help prepare them for the next week's lesson. Class is taught in a fun way, but with the desire to start preparing the children for youth group and attending adult church services. In the fall, this class holds the "Shining Knights Tournament"--a time of active games with prizes and fellowship. The tournament is a true highlight for the children.
